Johnny Gyro Karate in Agoura Hills has been in business as the #1 and most well known name in karate for the past 29 years since 1995 and is the only karate studio in the surrounding communities with such longevity.

Johnny Gyro has earned Black Belts in six different styles of karate. At Johnny Gyro Karate, we teach using a Tang Soo Do foundation while incorporating the most effective Martial Arts techniques from all six Black Belt styles that Mr. Gyro personally studied and trained in. Because of this, JGK continues to offer the most complete, effective and comprehensive karate and self-defense program to make each Johnny Gyro Karate student an extremely proficient Martial Artist.

All children's classes are separated by specific belt level color with their own class times. No combined belt classes for the best and most superior quality of class instruction.

The Johnny Gyro Karate studio in Agoura Hills is a professionally and specifically designed studio with the priority to be large, open, and very spacious complete with a custom professional non-absorbent karate mat. Both the studio and the oversized mat are regularly maintained for cleanliness.

JGK tuition pricing remains very reasonable at or below competitor's price points. No enrollment fees, no registration fees, no upfront fees or contracts ever. JGK has always been and remains very family friendly and flexible.

Every class is productive, educational and always conducted in a very motivational, high energy atmosphere. Every class begins promptly throughout the daily schedules and classes are dismissed on time.

Class curriculum is always consistent based on traditional requirements and content. No "made up" material or shortcuts from tradition.

Testing eligibility and permission to promote to the next belt level is done so on a equal level for all students. No inconsistent testing requirements that vary from time to time or from student to student. Each belt level has corresponding requirements to achieve Permission to Test which has proven to result in evident progress in our students with every belt promotion.

JGK does not award belts or Black Belt ranks at any time to any individual that does not or has not trained at JGK in accordance with all traditional requirements.

Johnny Gyro has personally been featured on the covers of several highly respected national and international Martial Arts magazines since the start of his career in 1978. He has also been the subject of hundreds of articles in print and online throughout his extraordinary career.

Johnny Gyro's first mark of success came in 1982 when he earned the title of Competitor of the Year by World Karate News Magazine followed in 1983 by Kick Illustrated Magazine and again in 1990 by International Freestyle Karate Association Hall of Fame. Johnny Gyro was also rated the #1 rated fighter from 1982-1988 by Karate Illustrated Magazine. No false claims here of being a "world champion" by way of a trophy plaque or single tournament win, these are verifiable and documented accomplishments and many of his records still stand today.

Johnny Gyro is most proud to have been inducted into the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame in 2000 and to be the recipient of the acclaimed and coveted Joe Lewis Memorial Fighter Award presented to him by the National Sport Karate Museum in 2019.
